INTRODUCTION

In 1973 I took a short vacation to the Livingston, Montana area . It was only for two days and I fished for two hours. In that time I completely fell in love with the area and its fishery. I vowed to return some day. In 1980 I sold out my business and moved to Livingston. It seemed like I'd died and gone to heaven. I went from fishing once a year to almost every day. I couldn't get enough of it. The Yellowstone River was heaven to me, the last and longest free flowing river in the Lower 48. As time went by I got to know most of the major rivers in the state. I found Montana to be the most complete trout fishery in the world. It has every type of water imaginable, from flat meandering meadow streams to high rugged mountain streams and everything in between. And Montana's rivers have such a wealth of aquatic life! Insect hatches occur year-round, from the tiniest midges to the giant stone flys, with a scattering of terrestrials to make it interesting.

After ten years as a licensed fly-fishing outfitter and buying flys tied overseas that I felt were not up to the standards, I decided to open a fly shop of my own. Hatch Finders Fly Shop is patterned after the shops of yesteryear. We sell flys tied here in the shop, using only the best material and hooks I can find. For three years now I have been tying and selling the patterns that I feel are the most effective. In that time I have built up my stock to the point that I can now offer them for the enjoyment of anglers outside Montana.

Hatch Finders also offers custom ties for anglers in other parts of the world who want patterns tied for their particular waters. Since our flys are tied right here in the shop, we also offer the proper materials for any of the flys we sell .

For the first time, I'm offering an extensive list of traditional and innovative patterns for the sole purpose of fooling the ever-elusive trout.
